Weekend in Galveston- Saturday

He's in and he loved it by Sunday!

the armadillo

We made a very spontaneous decision to go to the coast for the weekend on friday afternoon.  We were figuring Corpus or Galveston would be about the same distance in the car.  So we found a hotel in Galveston and decided to go there.
We got up on Saturday and packed the car, wired the kids (dvd with Bolt and headphones all around) and off we went.  Made a stop at Hruskas for kolaches and they messed up the order so we ended up with the sausage and cheese ones which we like but not the sausage and jalapeno dear ol' Daddy loves.  Then we also stopped by the cemetery and visited Pops, Grandma and Grandpa Remaley.  There was an armadillo just running around there so the kids thought that was pretty cool.
We checked into the hotel first and found out it had just opened on Wednesday so it actually still smelled of paint and everything was so new.  We changed and off we went to the beach.
That night we went to dinner at Giado's and had the best lump crab, shrimp, sea scallops and glass of wine.  Who could ask for anything better?
We told the kids that we had a surprise for them if they finished their food and sat there at the table.  So we went to the shave ice place and got them shave ice and hung out on the seawall.  After that, we decided to drive down further past our hotel and saw some buildings with walls missing and a bed and tv still inside from the hurricane damage.  As we were driving Sean said "Where's our surprise?" and we said that the shave ice was the surprise.  He then proceeded to tell us "That was a surprise?  You've got to be kidding me?!"  If you know Sean then you know he is a shopaholic and he was really hoping we would go to a souvenir shop.  We did go by one but walked out empty handed.
To end the night the older 2 and I went to the pool and hung out in the hot tub while Daddy and Ryan passed out.  The older 2 shared a bed so there was some giggling once we got up there but they quickly went to bed.

yep tried to get you some but they screwed up the order and gave us ham and cheese which was soooo not as good as the sausage and cheese and then we didn't end up with the sausage and jalapeno ones. Needless to say the ham and cheese was wasted and thrown away.
