Sunday was our final full day so we made the best of it and did a ton!
We started out getting coffee and bagels at Starbucks then headed to the American Museum of Natural History. We split up so that Mackenzie, Ryan and I could try to check out the Horse Exhibit and the Butterfly Exhibit. Turns out we had to pay additional for those exhibits so we decided to do just one which was the Butterfly Exhibit. Mackenzie is studying them in class right now so that made perfect sense.
We did check out some other areas of the museum and also made a stop by the gift shop.
Across the street is Central Park so we had to make a stop there before heading to Chelsea Street Seaport. So we let the kids climb around on this rock for a little bit then caught a taxi to the water.
Chelsea Street area is cute shops, restaurants, they even had the Human Bodies Exhibit down there, then the piers to take the Liberty Cruise.
We got some lunch then stopped in the Yankee Store and waited for Ellen and Scott. Then we headed down to the Pier and got on the boat to take us by the Statue of Liberty. Ryan fell asleep as soon as we got underway and we stayed up in the cold winds till we got a glimpse of the Statue then headed down for the ride back to the pier.
After the boat ride we got on the subway and headed to Bryant Park to go ice skating. Ellen, Sean, Mackenzie and I skated while Daddy, Scott and Ryan drank hot chocolate watching us. Sean had a few good tries around the rink but then decided he was done so we put him over the wall and took his skates off. The rest of us skated some more till we decided it was time to get dinner.
We caught the subway up to Lexington Street where we ate at Burger Heaven again. Different Burger Heaven and we had dinner this time. We had the whole upstairs area to ourselves which overlooked the street and you could see all the cute shops and lights of the buildings. We then said our goodbye's to our wonderful tour guides then headed back to our hotel.
The kids were awesome everyday we were there and were great about walking alot and sharing the stroller. Ryan the one that was supposed to be in the stroller most of the time was being carried. He had to have Mommy's hair usually in his grasp.
We get back to the hotel and at 9pm they tell us they have booked our suite for someone else and that we have to move rooms. The kids were already in PJ's and trying to settle down to go to sleep. So we packed up all our stuff and then moved to the room next door and tried to get settled in and go to sleep. This was not satisfactory with Daddy-O and he did complain.
So our trip was pretty much over and we got up in the morning got our breakfast then caught a cab to Newark and said our goodbye's to Daddy and went through security and headed to get some lunch before our flight.
We had a great trip and I wish it could have been a day or so longer to try to squeeze in a few more things. The flight home was uneventful except I forgot to charge the DVD player so they didn't have anything to watch. This made for a slightly long 4 hour flight. Sean and Ryan did sleep some but that only took up about an hour or so of the flight.
